NOTE – IEC 60079 identifies two apparatus groups:
Group I, electrical apparatus for mines susceptible to fire damp;
Group II, which can be divided into sub-groups, electrical apparatus for all places with an explosive gas atmosphere other than mines susceptible to fire damp.
